From March 31 through April 3, 66 DATA students competed in more than 20 Leadership and Skill contest areas at the 49th Annual SkillsUSA California State Conference in San Diego.

In addition to competition medals, 4 students were elected to officer positions. Juniors Hillary Rivera and Jennifer Reynoso were elected Region 6 Officers while sophomore Shan Vo was elected as State Secretary and junior Guadalupe Cortez was elected as State Reporter. Over the next year, State Officers will receive intensive leadership training and professional development. They will also assist in organizing the Regional and State Conferences for 2017.
DATA Senior Norma Vazquez was the first State Officer form CCHS. The outgoing State Parliamentarian helped officiate this year’s conference and has spent the last year traveling around the state and the country fulfilling the ditties of her office.
Gold Medalists and State Officers will attend the SkillsUSA National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky this June.
